Self-guided adventure motorcycle tours
in South Africa's Eastern Cape.
Seven days on a professionally prepared KTM 790 Adventure. Ride independently — with your route, accommodation and full backup already taken care of.
1,300 – 1,800 km · ~70% gravel · Max 4 riders · €2,950 – €3,450 for 7 days

Off the beaten track.
Into the real South Africa.
Most visitors see South Africa through a windscreen.
You'll see it through a visor — on gravel passes, remote valleys and mountain roads that don't appear on tourist maps.
From the Kouga mountains to the full length of the Baviaanskloof, through the remote Karoo interior and over the forest passes of the Garden Route — every kilometre is deliberate. Every stop is earned.
This is not a guided tour. You ride at your own pace — with the confidence of professional preparation behind you.
Two routes.
Seven days each.
Cape2Karoo or Frontier & Mist — equally good, completely different geography.
There are two independently planned 7-day routes from St Francis Bay. Neither is a fallback for the other: if flooding or road closures rule one out, the other is ready to run exactly as planned. Gravel passes and remote sections are also affected by weather and road works, so your final route may be adapted to current conditions — where a section is closed, we substitute equivalent riding and brief you fully before departure. Tap a route below to see its day-by-day breakdown, accommodation and map.
The Route — Eastern Cape Loop
Seven days. Seven completely different landscapes — from the Baviaanskloof wilderness and the deep Karoo interior, over the Swartberg Pass — with the option of the descent into Gamkaskloof, "Die Hel" — to the ancient forests of the Garden Route and the Tsitsikamma coastline. Each day is built for approximately five to seven hours in the saddle, with around 70% gravel and mountain tracks.

KTM 790
Adventure.
The benchmark mid-weight adventure bike — light enough for technical gravel, powerful enough for the Karoo. It's the right tool for exactly this kind of riding.

Built by a rider.
Run like an engineer.
Willem Pienaar spent thirty years in the defence electronics industry — managing specialist development teams where the consequences of poor planning are not optional. That instinct for precision, preparation and anticipating what can go wrong is now the foundation of every Outbound Moto departure.
Motorcycles were never a career move. They were always a way of life — on and off road, in all conditions. Outbound Moto is where those two worlds converge: the professional rigour of an engineering background and a lifetime spent in the saddle.
As a director of a 4×4 off-road hire and tour-planning operation, Willem already understands what it takes to run a vehicle-based adventure in remote terrain. The same operational standards apply here — just on two wheels.
"Every kilometre of this route has been ridden by me. Every accommodation has been evaluated and selected in person. And every enquiry receives a personal response — because that is how I would expect to be treated."
— Willem Pienaar · Founder, Outbound MotoRider

Seven days ride
not enough?
A few optional add-ons, booked separately.
The ride itself is the main event — these are entirely optional. If you're travelling from Europe for 10–14 days, a deep sea fishing charter or Big Five safari makes good use of the extra time.
Deep Sea Fishing Charter
Port St Francis sits on the Agulhas Current — one of the richest fishing grounds on the South African coast. Charter a boat for a half or full day targeting Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin, Dorado and Cape Salmon. The charter supplies everything — skipper, rods, reels, tackle, lures and bait.
Must be selected at time of enquiry. Pricing on request.
Addo Elephant Park — Big Five Safari
Just two hours from St Francis Bay, Addo Elephant National Park is home to over 600 elephants — the largest concentration on earth — as well as lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino. A world-class malaria-free Big Five safari on your doorstep.
Must be selected at time of enquiry. Pricing on request.
